MISSIONARY USE OF THE PILGRIM'S PROGRESS IN A POST-SECULAR WEST
2020
The Pilgrim's Progress is far less significant than its heyday of missionary translations of the nineteenth century, yet it still has a lingering evangelistic presence. writing in progress
Bunyan's gathered church in Bedford did not go in for congregational singing. However, The Pilgrim's Progress is full of song. This article draws on theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer's concept of the 'polyphony of life' to critically examine contemporary Christian albums recorded on the book, including Jim Winder, The World in Lights, and The Neal Morse Band.

But not only does Bunyan quickly edit his text in a third edition (1679), but he also makes room for marriage in Part Two (1684). And contemporary reception has continued that trajectory with an adaptation for married couples. What does The Pilgrim's Progress have to teach on marriage?
